What is Connect to Work Newcastle?

Connect to Work Newcastle offers free support to help you move quickly into a job that suits you. You will be matched with an Employment Specialist who will work with you on a one-to-one basis, getting to know your strengths, motivations and job goals. Together, you will explore what type of work suits you and build your confidence to move forward.

How we can help you

We offer support that is personalised to your situation: quickly helping you into the right job and ongoing support to help you succeed.

We support you through job search steps such as building a CV and job applications. Then we work to find an employer who can suit your needs, and make sure that they understand any challenges you may face in your role.

Up to 12 months of support

Once you begin work, we stay in touch with you for up to a year to help you settle in, adjust and feel confident in the workplace. This support might include accessing health and wellbeing or other services.

Connect to Work can help you:

  • discover your strengths and goals,
  • explore job opportunities,
  • apply for jobs and prepare for interviews,
  • connect with employers,
  • settle in and grow in your role,
  • access additional support.

Support for people who need extra help to find work

If you’re living with a health condition, have a disability, or haven’t worked for a while, Connect to Work gives you free, personalised support to help you succeed. We’ll introduce you to local employers with real job opportunities, and continue to support you once you start work.

Who can join Connect to Work Newcastle?

We support people who may face extra challenges when looking for or staying in work. This could include things like health problems, caring for someone, housing issues, having been in the justice system, leaving care, being a refugee, serving in the Armed Forces, or other personal circumstances that make work more difficult.

You can take part if you:

  • are over 18,
  • live in the Newcastle City Council region,
  • are unemployed or at risk of losing your job,
  • have the right to live and work in the UK,
  • are not in another DWP employment programme.
