Course details

Modules

The mandatory modules are: 

  • Support clients to make use of the advice and guidance service
  • Develop interactions with advice and guidance clients
  • Assist advice and guidance clients to decide on a course of action
  • Manage personal caseload
  • Evaluate and develop own contribution to the service

You must also select optional units to achieve the remaining credits required for the qualification. These units allow for specialisation and tailoring of the qualification to your job:

  • Prepare clients through advice and guidance for the implementation of a course of action
  • Assist clients through advice and guidance to review their achievement of a course of action
  • Advocate on behalf of advice and guidance clients
  • Prepare to represent advice and guidance clients in formal proceedings
  • Present cases for advice and guidance clients in formal proceedings
  • Negotiate on behalf of advice and guidance clients
  • Liaise with other services
  • Enable advice and guidance clients to access referral opportunities
  • Operate within networks
  • Undertake research for the service and its clients
  • Design information materials for use in the service
  • Provide and maintain information materials for use in the service
  • Identify and promote the contribution of Careers Education Guidance (CEG) within the organisation
  • Integrate Careers Education Guidance (CEG) within the curriculum
  • Promote Careers Education Guidance (CEG)
  • Negotiate and maintain service agreements
  • Facilitate learning in groups
  • Prepare and set up mediation
  • Stage and manage the mediation process
  • Understand the importance of legislation and procedures
  • Enable learning through demonstrations and instructions
  • Provide support for other practitioners
Duration

The course will take up to twelve months, but there is the option to complete more quickly if your schedule allows.

Delivery

This qualification is delivered completely online, through workshops and one-to-one sessions.

Assessment

You will be assessed by completing written assessments, observations of practice, profession discussion and on the job evidence submission.

Eligibility

You must be working in a sector where they have access to provide people with advice and guidance as you will need to be observed in practice.

An initial interview will take place with one of our assessors to determine if this is the right course or if the Level 3 is more suitable.
