Edt supports UNICEF to provide continuous access to education for children in Gaza

Edt will be providing technical assistance to UNICEF on the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP), to provide continuous access to education for children in Gaza.

Since October 2023, over 658,000 school-age children in Gaza have been without access to formal education. UNICEF has responded by establishing temporary learning centres and implementing community-led education models. While these efforts have reached thousands, gaps remain in consistent access and teaching hours. To address this, UNICEF is implementing the ALP in Mathematics and Arabic for Grades 2–9. This is a critical step to safeguard the right to education, and work towards equitable, sustainable learning for all affected children.

Edt will provide technical assistance on the ALP, drawing on our prior experience designing and implementing a similar programme for displaced learners in Jordan. We will adapt and enhance the learning materials for Gaza’s context, build teacher capacity, and introduce lesson activities that promote critical thinking, engagement, and resilience.

“We are proud to be UNICEF’s partner of choice for technical assistance on the Accelerated Learning Programme in Gaza. Our team combines global subject matter expertise, regional knowledge and experience, and deep understanding of the learning materials we will be adapting and improving. We are ready to bring this experience to Gaza, working alongside UNICEF to support teachers to recover lost learning in a conflict-impacted region.”
