Futures

We support young people and adults to build future-ready skills, make informed career choices, and access meaningful employment and lifelong learning.

At EDT, we support people to build future-ready skills, make informed career choices, and access meaningful employment and lifelong learning.

Through inclusive careers guidance, skills and employability services, and youth career readiness support, we open pathways to brighter futures for all. We support young people and adults to choose the right career pathways and take meaningful steps to navigate a changing world of work.
We have extensive expertise in transitions from school to work, which informs our approach to ‘future readiness’: ensuring young people and the education systems which support them are equipped for the transition from education into a changing employment landscape. In the UK, our substantial portfolio in this area includes helping young people make critical decisions about their futures, promoting technical and vocational education and training (TVET) routes through apprenticeships, and supporting students at risk of becoming NEET (not in education employment or training). We also have expertise in work experience for school and college students.

Ensuring successful post-secondary school transitions has also been an important feature of our work to support marginalised girls in Kenya through the Girls Education Challenge programme, while our Future Ready programme in Jordan has challenged gendered career expectations among secondary students.
We also have significant experience and expertise in careers and employability advice and guidance for adults, including individuals who are NEET, returning to work, or have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). In a world where governments increasingly need skilled workforces in rapidly changing economies, we provide world-class advice, information and guidance which not only provides lasting economic and social benefits to the communities in which we work but also transforms individual lives. Our experienced teams help individuals to realise their unique potential and achieve positive work and learning outcomes.

We have over 25 years of experience of supporting individuals with careers advice and guidance. Alongside other programmes, we have successfully managed the National Careers Service in England for many years, both as a prime contractor (in the North East, Cumbria, Yorkshire and the Humber) and as a key subcontractor (in the South East). Our expert teams employ a person-centred approach, helping individuals recognise their skills and strengths, improve their employability, and explore and manage the opportunities available to them.
