Our response to the Syrian crisis

Our work in response to the Syrian refugee crisis has three core elements: we upskill teachers of refugees on the ground in Lebanon and Jordan; we advise and support governments and agencies on policy; and we contribute to the much-needed evidence base through our research.

Raising student achievement in literacy and numeracy

Our specialised solution resulted in a transformation of performance with more than half of the government school student cohort obtaining grades equivalent to native-speaker level (A*-C); an increase of more than 30 per cent in a 10-year period compared to a 5 per cent increase in the previous 10 years.

Development consultancy

For more than 20 years, we have worked alongside ministries, donors and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to design sustainable solutions for education systems around the world. Our Development Consultancy team deploys its specialist experience in education reform in low- and middle-income countries providing rapid-response technical assistance.

Accelerate

Accelerate was created and developed by Education Development Trust in 2018 in partnership with the Chartered College of Teaching to support early career teachers with the aim of quickly raising quality of practice and increasing confidence. Funded by the Department for Education in England, the programme was created for schools which are classed as requiring improvement or are within an area defined as having the greatest need.

We have been working with ministries of education and government bodies in the Middle East and the Gulf countries to support school improvement and inspections of schools since 2007.

Core Maths Support Programme

Education Development Trust [operating at the time as CfBT Education Trust] was selected to introduce a new Core Maths qualification with a focus on problem solving rather than theory, designed for students who had a GCSE grade C or above in mathematics but who were not planning to take the subject at A-level.

Global Learning Programme Wales

Education Development Trust has been working with more than half of Wales' 1,593 primary and secondary schools in Wales to deepen pupils' understanding of global issues through the Global Learning Programme.

Future Teaching Scholars

On behalf of the Department for Education in England, Education Development Trust is delivering the Future Teaching Scholars programme, a new route into teaching for passionate maths and physics students to create a new generation of confident and highly skilled teachers.

English language teaching in the Middle East

Our English language teaching work in the Middle East is largely funded by the ringfenced funds resulting from our merger with the Alexandria Schools Trust (AST) in 2014. We are committed to fulfilling the former charity’s mission, promoting and maintaining teaching of the English language in the Middle East.

The Schools Partnership Programme

The Schools Partnership Programme is our cluster-based school improvement model based on rigorous and impact-focused peer review. We support school leaders to drive their own improvement, through a continuous cycle of self-review, peer review and school-to-school support and improvement.
