On Thursday 18th January, EDT came together with ministry officials and other key stakeholders to celebrate our TARGET programme's remarkable achievements over the last four years with a programme closure event in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

EDT is proud to have presented findings on the professional development of teachers of refugees, and formally pledged support for refugee learners and their teachers around the world, at the Global Refugee Forum between 13th and 15th December 2023.

What impact does climate change have on education, especially in areas which are vulnerable to climate disasters and extreme weather events? In this report, we explore the impact of climate change on schools and learning in six counties in Kenya (Nairobi, Mombasa, Turkana, Tana River, Kwale and Kilifi).

Our Annual Impact Review for 2022/2023 once again reveals substantial growth in the reach and impact of EDT’s work around the world. This year’s report – the fifth of its kind – focuses on the period between September 2022 and August 2023, and shows not only how we have touched the lives of more teachers and learners than ever before, but also highlights some of the real, human stories of the impact of the work that we do on the lives of individuals across the globe.

Our fifth Annual Impact Review reveals phenomenal growth in the reach and impact of our programmes to improve education across the world. The report – focusing on the year to September 2023 – shows how we have engaged with more teachers, leaders and education systems internationally than ever before and improved outcomes and experiences for learners.

School improvement through external review is a burgeoning sector of education provision, and the International School Quality Mark (ISQM) and the inspection of British Schools Overseas (BSO) are two methods being increasingly used in this area. But what do these reviews focus on, and how far do they lead to change and improvement?

Our work in emergency and refugee settings, alongside our research on policy and practice in these contexts, has long formed an important part of what we do at EDT. Ahead of this week’s Global Refugee Forum, we are delighted to share that EDT is formally pledging its support for refugee learners and their teachers around the world.
