edt (Education Development Trust) has today announced the following:

Statement from Ilse Howling, Chair of Trustees

Sarah Farquhar has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer, stepping up from her role as Chief Operating Officer, with immediate effect. She will be supported by edt's senior leadership team and will work closely with the Board of Trustees to support the organisation’s continued delivery and growth.

We are delighted that Sarah is stepping up to be Interim CEO. She has played a central role in driving operational performance and first-class delivery for clients. The organisation is well positioned for continued success, underpinned by high-quality programme delivery and a growing, diverse global client base.

Sarah Farquhar, Interim CEO said:

“I’m proud to step into the role of Interim CEO at a time when edt's work is making a real difference. The strength of our people, our partnerships and our financial position give us a strong platform to continue changing lives, delivering high quality programmes and advancing our mission when it matters most.”

Dan Sandhu has decided to step back from his role as Chief Executive Officer, following a period of planned transition.

Since joining edt in September 2023, Dan has led the organisation through a period of significant delivery and impact, working with teams to strengthen programmes across multiple countries and supporting learners, teachers and communities in some of the most challenging global contexts.

During his tenure, edt has engaged in major partnerships, secured new programmes, and continued to deliver high quality, evidence led education and skills initiatives at scale.

Ilse Howling, Chair of Trustees said:

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Dan for his leadership and commitment to edt. Dan has guided the organisation through a demanding period with integrity, resilience and a clear focus on impact. He leaves edt well positioned for the future, with strong leadership in place and a continued commitment to our mission.”

Dan Sandhu said:

“It has been a genuine privilege to lead edt and to work alongside such dedicated colleagues around the world. I am incredibly proud of what we have delivered together and am confident in the organisation’s direction and future impact.”
