Our fourth Annual Impact Review reveals phenomenal growth in the reach and impact of our programmes to improve education across the world. The report – focusing on the year to September 2022 – shows how we have engaged with more teachers, leaders and education systems internationally than ever before and improved outcomes and experiences for learners.

The modern labour market can be a challenging, competitive and complex place for young people to navigate. There are approximately 73 million unemployed youth globally (ILO.org). The International Labour Organisation (ILO) estimated the share of youth aged 15-24 not in employment, education or training (NEET) in 2020 to be at 23% globally and at 33% in Southern Africa, 31% in MENA and 11% in European Union member states (ILOSTAT). Successful engagement of young people in the labour market is essential for their own personal livelihoods and wellbeing and for social and economic change.

Edt will continue to deliver the DfE’s Early Years Professional Development Programme (EYPDP) – now moving into its third phase and available throughout England – after winning the latest bid to support training in this sector.

Edt has been re-accredited against the Merlin Standard, which supports the development, recognition and promotion of sustainable excellence, and positive partnership working within supply chains.

In September, executive leaders of schools and trusts joined a two-day conference in Nottingham, organised by edt, as part of their NPQ in Executive Leadership (NPQEL).

Representatives from our programmes in education, leadership development and employability and careers are taking part in the Schools and Academies Show (SAAS) on 17 November at the NEC in Birmingham. Education Development Trust will be engaging with school and sector leaders to discuss challenges in education and explore how we provide support.

The UK Aid-funded Building Learning Foundations programme (BLF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Rwanda, celebrated International Day of the Girl Child (IDGC), marking the event under the national theme, ‘My health, my dignity’.

Paul Walters, Development Director at the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), met school leaders, teachers, students and edt TARGET programme staff at Misrak Goh Secondary School in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to see and hear about inclusivity. Mr Walters’ team oversees project funding in Ethiopia.
