Future Teaching Scholars demonstrates subject specialist teacher retention, amidst national STEM skills shortages

After a decade of nurturing a new generation of maths and physics teaching talent, the Future Teaching Scholars programme came to a close at the end of September. Edt has delivered the Future Teaching Scholars programme on behalf of the Department for Education in England since 2015. We are proud to report that in addition to training new cohorts of maths and physics teachers, the programme has led to high retention rates of these early career teachers: 90% of those who started initial teacher training through the programme have remained in the profession after three years, against a national average of 73%.
